01The challenge
The assessment already told parents a lot about their child: family environment, internet use, the parent–child relationship, and school motivation, each with strengths and points to watch. What it did not do was hold up a mirror. Parents finished the report knowing what was wrong and not knowing what to change in themselves. The module had to do that without shaming anyone.
02What I did
- 01
Map the existing report
Read the four-dimension report end to end and traced where parents got lost: long text, no sense of where they stood, and advice that was not about them.
- 02
Define five levels
Named and described the ladder, from Level 1 High support to Level 5 High risk / harm, with one-line definitions a parent could recognize themselves in.
- 03
Write the feedback in a coach’s voice
Drafted “Where you are now” and “What you need” for every level in Teacher Han’s voice, color-coded so the two halves read differently, and paired each level with an icon.
- 04
Lay out the result and hand it over
Sketched the report section in Modao, annotated the design decisions, and joined product-requirement and technical discussions with the development team.
